2019 country production in first quarter
South Africa's steel production fell 0.1% to 1.59 million tons in the first quarter, while Egypt's steel production increased by 10.3% to 2.1 million tons.
Asia produced 312.9 million tons of crude steel in the first three months of this year, an increase of 7% from the first quarter of 2018.
The EU produced 42.3 million tons of crude steel, down 2% year-on-year.
Crude steel production in the first three months of North America increased by 4% year-on-year to 30.7 million tons.
In the first quarter of 2019, crude steel production in 64 countries reached 155 million tons in March, an increase of 4.9% from March 2018.
